Beethoven (1770-1827)
Description:
German virtuoso Lars Forkert conducts the Royal Northern Sinfonia for the second time in a project to record Beethoven's complete piano concertos. This time, the main work is "No. 3," the most tragic of the five concertos, combined with the extremely intimate "Triple Concerto," which was composed a little later. The Piano Concerto No. 3, written in the transitional period between his early and middle years, is a work in which Beethoven's style was fully established. Folkert's dramatic performance is a joy to hear. In the Trio Concerto, he is joined by his close friend Christian Tetzlaff and his sister Tanya Tetzlaff. The three artists stretch out and sing a gentle, joyful melody that is quite different from that of the Piano Concerto No. 3. This is truly a "piano trio and orchestra" performance. Naxos Japan
