The MIRA Safety Geiger-2 is a pocket-sized digital dosimeter and Geiger counter built around the same SBM20-01 Geiger-Mueller tube found in professional-grade radiation detection equipment. Powered by a 400 mAh rechargeable LiPo battery with a 30-day charge life and supplemented by an integrated solar panel, it detects radiation levels from as low as 0.999 μSv/h up to 999 μSv/h. A full-color 1.1-inch LCD, two-button operation, and USB-C charging make it practical for daily carry, emergency preparedness kits, and disaster response scenarios alike.
The Geiger-2 uses the SBM20-01 Geiger-Mueller tube — the same tube used in professional-grade counters — to detect alpha particles, beta particles, gamma radiation, and X-rays. It reads radiation levels from 0.999 μSv/h at the low end up to 999 μSv/h at the high end, updating output every 20 seconds as a count rate in counts per second (CPS). That 20-second refresh cycle gives a responsive, real-time picture of ambient conditions without burning through battery capacity.
For long-term tracking, the device stores historical exposure data and lets you set customizable daily exposure limits. When those limits are reached, an audible alarm fires. This combination of real-time monitoring and cumulative dose logging makes the Geiger-2 functional both as an instant-read radiation meter and as a true dosimeter for multi-day field use.
The internal 400 mAh, 3.7 V LiPo battery delivers a 30-day operational charge under normal use. A full recharge via the included USB-C cable takes approximately two hours. The integrated solar panel provides a supplemental trickle charge that extends battery life during daylight hours — it does not replace USB-C charging, and only indirect sunlight should be used to charge the device through the panel.
The Geiger-2 is built from impact-resistant polymer and measures only slightly larger than a ballpoint pen. At that size, it fits in a shirt pocket, jacket pocket, purse, or backpack side pouch. The full-color 1.1-inch LCD displays key readings at a glance, and the two-button interface keeps operation straightforward regardless of experience level. In the box: the Geiger-2 unit, a keychain, a carabiner, and a USB-C charging cable. The device operates in temperatures as low as 51°F (10.5°C).
It detects alpha particles, beta particles, gamma radiation, and X-rays using its SBM20-01 Geiger-Mueller tube. The tube ionizes when exposed to radiation and generates an electrical pulse the device counts and displays in real time.
A Geiger counter measures current radiation levels in real time, while a dosimeter tracks the accumulated dose over a period of time. The Geiger-2 functions as both: it displays live CPS readings and also logs cumulative exposure so you can monitor your total dose across days or weeks.
Yes. As long as the radiation level falls within the device's 0.999–999 μSv/h measurable range, the Geiger-2 can detect it regardless of the medium.
The internal LiPo battery lasts 30 days per charge under normal use. Recharging via the included USB-C cable takes approximately two hours. The integrated solar panel extends that 30-day charge in direct sunlight but does not eliminate the need for regular USB-C recharging. Use only indirect sunlight when relying on the solar panel.
Yes. The Geiger-2 lets you set customizable daily exposure limits. When the accumulated dose hits that threshold, an audible alarm activates. This feature is particularly useful for users who want a safety ceiling during extended exposure scenarios such as nuclear disaster response or repeated medical imaging.
Yes. It is a fully digital, rechargeable device with no consumable components. The LiPo battery recharges via USB-C, long-term exposure statistics are stored onboard, and power management settings let you optimize battery performance over months and years of continuous use.
